2007 Honda CB600 HORNET ASV C/5 Part# CRC510 Congratulations on your purchase of an ASV C/5 Sport Streetbike lever. The correct installation of control levers on a sport/street motorcycle is critical. Incorrect installation or the installation of an incorrect part can result in a malfunction of your clutch and / or front brake system. This lever should be installed by a certified mechanic; preferably at your local motorcycle dealer service dept.

1 To remove your stock lever, use 10mm wrench or socket to remove the locknut attached to the main pivot bolt that holds the lever. Once the locknut is removed, leave the bolt in the lever / perch until step 3.

2 Turn the cable adjuster until it is all they way in as close to the perch as possible. Align the cable slot on the adjuster with the cable slot on the perch.

3 Pull the cable away from the perch to expose the inner wire. You will need to pull very hard to do this. (No damage can occur as you will be simple engaging your clutch slightly while doing this) Guide the inner wire through the adjustor and perch.

Then remove the cable barrel from the clutch lever to completely detach the cable from your clutch lever.

 4 After you have the cable completely removed from the lever / perch, unscrew the main pivot bolt with the flat blade screwdriver and slide the bolt out of the perch. The lever will now completely detach from the perch.

5 Install your ASV lever Following instructions 1, 2, & 3 in reverse to re-attach your lever into the perch and to install your clutch cable into the lever / perch.

6 Install the locknut on the main pivot bolt and tighten using both the 10mm and the screwdriver. Do not over tighten the locknut as it can cause binding of the lever and clutch perch. Maximum torque on locknut should be five (5) foot-lbs. or sixty (60) inch- lbs.

7 Re-Install your clutch cable.

Be sure to re-adjust your cable barrel to allow the correct tension on your clutch cable. Also, be sure to adjust the reach of your new ASV lever so that it fits your hand and engages your clutch properly. After installation is complete, with the engine off and bike out of gear, apply the clutch several times to ensure it is functioning properly. There should be no drag or binding when the clutch lever is pulled. Next, With the Key in the “ON” position, your bike in gear, the starter should NOT start your bike. Now, with the clutch pulled in, your bike should start. If your bike does not start while it is in gear unless the clutch lever is pulled in, then your new ASV clutch lever is working correctly. If something does not seem right, consult your mechanic or contact ASV technical support before riding your motorcycle

1. Lift your Honda Aspect’s hood and loosen the bolts that secure each of the battery cables to their respective battery terminals with a ten mm wrench. Carry the negative battery cable from the battery terminal and set it aside. Lift the positive battery cable clamp from the battery. Place the ring terminal from the amplifier wiring package onto the terminal post. Change the positive battery cable clamp onto the terminal and tighten the bolt with the wrench.

2. Join the facility supply cable from the amp wiring package to the ring terminal. Feed the cable into the passenger cabin by means of the opening within the firewall. Take away the fuse from the ring terminal.

3. Pry the trim panel surrounding the stereo meeting from the dashboard with a trim panel removal tool. Seize the panel, pull it from the dashboard and set it aside. Remove the 4 screws (two on each side) from the stereo bracket with a Phillips head screwdriver. Slide the factory stereo from the dashboard.

Feed the patch cables via the again of the stereo mounting dock and right down to the floor of the automobile on the passenger’s side. Replace the stereo into the stereo dock and set up the 4 screws across the perimeter of the stereo bracket.

6. Route the power cable from the driver’s side of the Honda to the rear cargo area of the vehicle. Run the patch cables along the passenger’s aspect of the vehicle to the rear cargo area. Place the powered subwoofer behind the Element and join the grounding wire (from the amp wiring equipment) from the sub to a screw or bolt immediately linked to the Honda’s frame.

7. Plug the ability cable into the facility input on the sub. Join the patch cables to the signal and switch-on lead shops on the subwoofer.

8. Substitute the negative battery cable clamp onto the negative battery terminal post. Tighten the cable’s clamp to the terminal with the wrench. Place the fuse back into the fuse holder on the ring terminal and close the hood.

Two years running they were voted “Top 10 Engines in the World.” Their only shortcoming is they were a little short on power for many of us – and the trans shifting is a little sloppy. The ’99 up Ford 4.6 and 5.4′s engines with their revised heads, intake and cams make more power and performed considerably better than the early ’97-’98 engines. The 5.4 4V Navigator engine was unchanged from ’99-’03. The ’99 up engines also respond better to supercharging.

As with the V10′s, we never saw a set of headers that didn’t hurt the low end and mid range even if they make a few HP at 5000. Also, no HP in the cat back, “cool air” or “hot air” kits, throttle body spacers, mass air meter, throttle body, turbulators or big exhaust tips (see “Advertised vs. Real HP Tests” for more information). Ford engineers found all the HP at the factory. That makes supercharging the only sensible choice. “Supercharge it or save your money.” There is, however, some potential in the calibration. Since most of the 4.6 and 5.4 engines are designed for 87 octane and mushy shifts, the Kenne Bell SWITCH CHIP® makes up to 20HP with 92 octane while firming up the shifts at WOT. A straight through muffler and 3″ exhaust pipe does sound nice. All these vehicles benefit from lower gears, but be sure someone can re-calibrate the speedometer. Kenne Bell kits feature enhanced knock (detonation) protection.

The stock ignition works great up to 8 psi so an aftermarket ignition is a total waste of money on a non supercharged engine and unnecessary unless running boost past 8 psi. The Kenne Bell supercharged V10 Excursion is one of our favorite company tow and daily driven vehicles. The stock Ford 6.8 V10 is a great engine. It’s just a little underpowered for those big Excursions and F350′s. We use the Kenne Bell lowered Excursion 2WD to tow our project vehicles, race car trailers, boats, off road vehicles etc.

up hills and mountain throughout the U.S. It’s big, roomy, powerful and intimidating. Contrary to what the ads say, there is no HP in the exhaust, inlet or headers for the Ford V10. We never saw a set of headers that didn’t hurt low end torque. Customers have come by our shop with every brand header made. We’ve seen some real B.S. ads claiming up to 60HP for “headers, exhaust and cool air kit.” If you believe these ads, you may as well believe in the Tooth Fairy. Again, bring the parts to Kenne Bell with a magazine writer and let’s test them one by one. And forget those cheapie Mickey Mouse exposed underhood filters, throttle body spacers, turbulators, oversize mass air meter, throttle body and ignition. We never saw HP gains in any of these products. Ford engineers just didn’t leave any HP in the inlet or exhaust systems. There is 20Hp in the Kenne Bell SWITCH CHIP®. After that, get a supercharger or save your money.

And never count on our supercharger to get the torque back the headers lose. With the Kenne Bell supercharger, the V10 easily out pulls the Diesels. Our Excursion out powers the Diesels on the hills and out accelerates them from a stoplight, with or without trailers. Granted, the Diesels offer better fuel economy, but look at the high initial cost. Then there’s the noise and smell. And a Diesel will never replace the exhaust sound of a Ford V10 with a straight through muffler. Finally, installing a “chip” in a Diesel does increase power, but look for a corresponding loss in fuel economy. You just can’t make more power without more fuel. The extra power from a chip also creates transmission reliability issues – no question about that. V10/F350 owners who install larger 32″-37″ tires experience a loss in torque – as they should. Every 1″ of tire size is approx. .1 gear ratio. We like the low 4.30 gears and even the 4.88′s. 4.30′s in a 2WD will require a 2 piece driveshaft. Big tires require a modified SWITCH CHIP®.

6. Connect the rod end bearings to the forward brackets using the mounting bolt and the nylock nut; the bolt needs to be inserted from the underside of the meeting so that the nut is on the top. Use a socket set and wrench to fully tighten all of the fasteners holding the forward brackets in place.

7. Install the eight mounting bolts that hold the subframe plate in place and use a socket set and wrench to completely tighten them. Set up the six bolts that fix the trunnion bars to the subframe plate and use a socket set and wrench to fully tighten them. Install the receiver into the subframe and the tow ball onto the receiver; use the cotter pin to hold the ball in place.

8. Reinstate the plastic panel between the saddlebags using the original hex screws.

Tools With the following tools you should have no problem upgrading your filter to a Puravent filter.

• Adjustable spanner (or small socket set is even better) Find the old filter In most cases, particularly on older European cars, the filter will be located in the area at the top of the bulkhead that separates the engine bay from the passenger compartment.

By finding the air intake for the cabin, which is usually at the base of the windscreen, you will normally be close to finding the filter which could be under a plastic cover between the top of the bonnet and windscreen.

On Far Eastern brand cars and more modern European brands the filter is more commonly found close to the ventilation fan behind the glove box. With some models it is very obvious where the filter is and there may be an access flap to open to get to the filter. Always check the easy and obvious places first before doing any disassembly.

Get at the old filter Generally the filter will be accessed either from the outside via the area to the base of the windscreen, or inside, behind the glove box. Base of windscreen .

If the filter is at the base of the windscreen then it will almost always be on the passenger side and be covered by a plastic cover. You will normally need to remove the soft rubber clip seal that runs along the top of the bulkhead which will provide access to some of the fixing screws on the cowling. Try gently flexing the cowling to see if there is enough access, without taking the cowling off. 

On some cars it is necessary to take the plastic cover right off. Where fixings are on the outside of the car they will often be covered with plastic caps. If these caps are rubber then a small spike can be used to get them of. If they are plastic, then try a small flat bladed screwdriver, taking care not to score the cap. Keep a finger on the cap as it is prised off so you don’t loose it. Behind the glove box .

On easier models there will be a removable rectangular plastic cover, which will be visible from the passenger foot well (possibly obscured by a piece of trim) or at the back of the glove box, which will have clips or screw fixings. On difficult models e.g. modern Vauxhall Astras and Zafira, older Hondas and older BMW 3,5 and 7 series, the glove box needs to be removed. You may need to remove some fixings and some plastic covers to actually see the filter.

2002 Ford Econoline GRDP6 Guardian - Use the instructions that were included with the original Guardian or Guardian II kit, and make the following modifications: VEHICLE 1 HARNESS – 1997-2002 Econoline with Gas Engine and Transmission Code E or 9 only – This application will not have a Ford OEM Blunt cut wire for “Park”. An auxiliary 4-pin Park Harness (Part # GRDP6) will be needed and the Vehicle 1 Harness will need to be modified. Cut the Orange wire on the Vehicle 1 harness near the connector.

Save the grommet, and discard the Orange wire. Locate the Ford gray 4-pin connector located above the transmission bell housing. Separate the connector halves and connect the gray “T” harness connectors from the GRDP6 Harness between them. Drill a 5/8″ hole in the bulkhead flange for the engine cover (see picture). Feed the two green wires through the hole from the engine compartment. Slide the saved grommet onto the harness and secure in the hole. The grommet can be moved along the harness for a custom fit. Install the two Green wire terminals into the Vehicle 1 Harness connector in the two empty slots next to where the orange wire was. Either Green wire can be installed in either slot.

Ensure that the metal pins securely lock into the 6-pin connector. Secure the harness with wire ties. This application will also have a 1-pin connector at the parking brake. The stock kit has a 2-pin parking brake connector and will need the following modification. Cut the brown wire in the stock harness about 1 inch above the “T” area. Discard the 2-pin connector. Strip the insulation on the brown wire and solder to the 1-pin park brake adapter brown wire. Use the provided heat shrink tubing to seal the connection.

Do not use a butt connector! Disconnect the black, single-wire Ford connector from the Parking Brake. Plug the female side of the connector from the adapter to the parking brake. Install the male side of the connector on the adapter to the female connector in the Ford harness. Snap the Vehicle 1 Harness into the Guardian or Guardian II Module connector labeled “Vehicle 1″.

  • 1.Drain coolant from drain plugs on radiator and both sides of cylinder block. 
  • 2.Remove drain plug on cylinder block. 
  • 3.Remove right side engine mounting, mounting bracket and nuts. 
  • 4.Remove drive belts and idler pulley bracket. 
  • 5.Remove chain tensioner cover and water pump cover. 
  • 6.Pushing timing chain tensioner sleeve, apply a stopper pin so it does not return. Then remove the chain tensioner assembly. 
  • 7.Remove the 3 water pump fixing bolts. Secure a gap between water pump gear and timing chain, by turning crankshaft pulley 2O° backwards. 
  • 8.Put M8 bolts to two M8-threaded holes out of 3 water pump fixing bolt holes. 
  • 9.Tighten M8 bolts by turning half turn alternately until they reach timing chain rear case. In order to prevent damages to water pump or timing chain rear case, do not tighten one bolt continuously. Always turn each bolt half turn each time. 
  • 10.Lift up water pump and remove it. When lifting up water pump, do not allow water pump gear to hit timing chain.

  • 1. Unpack the towing bracket and check its contents against the parts list. If necessary, remove the underseal from around the fitting points of the luggage compartment/frame members. 
  • 2. If exist, dismount the 2 nuts on the lower side of the left-handed frame member and remove the clamp. The clamp and the nuts will no longer be used. 
  • 3. Dismount the exhaust suspension clamp from the right-handed frame member. The 2 nuts will no longer be used. 
  • 4. Dismount the 2 bumper fixation clips on the lower side of the bumper. 
  • 5. Dismount the fog lamp/ reversing light units (2 screws/unit). 
  • 6. Remove the 2 bolts underneath (fixation inside bumper). These bolts will no longer be used. 
  • 7. For a easy fitting, first remove the lip (circa 13x22mm) on the lower side /middle of the bumper, because the lip could interfere the towbar. 
  • 8. Mount the support “1″ at the holes “A” using 2 M10 nuts, spring washers and plain washers. 
  • 9. Mount 2 bolts M10x50 (10.9), spring washers and plain washers at the holes “C” and mount 1 spacer “3″ between the rear side of the support and the inside bumper.Tighten these 2 bolts. Use the tightening tolerances as shown on page 1. 
  • 10. Mount the support “2″ and the exhaust suspension clamp at the holes “B” using 2 M10 nuts, spring washers and plain washers. 
  • 11. Mount 2 bolts M10x50 (10.9), spring washers and plain washers at the holes “D” and mount 1 spacer “3″ between the rear side of the support and the inside bumper. Tighten these 2 bolts. Use the tightening tolerances as shown on page 1. 
  • 12. Replace all removed parts mentioned in point 5 and 4. 
  • 13. Mount the crossbar “4″ at the holes “E” using 2 bolts M12x35, spring washers and nuts. Mount 2 bolts M12x35 and spring washers at the holes “F”. If necessary use the spacers “5″ between supports “1″ and/or “2″ and the crossbar to fill up the space in between. 
  • 14. Mount the socket plate as shown in detail 1. 
  • 15. Mount the ball support and socket plate at the holes “G” using 2 M12x110(10.9) bolts and lock nuts. 
  • 16. Attach the towbar. Use the tightening tolerances as shown on page 1

  • 1. Position one of the new solid bushes, complete with bearing, into the wishbone carrier. Tap it in with a copper hammer. Once you have got itsittingsquare in the wishbone, put the wishbone housingin a vice/pressand windthe bush in until it’s fully seated. It is recommendedyou use some aluminium or wood jaws in the vice to prevent damage to the new bush/bearing. Greasing the bushes before fitting is also a good idea. 
  • 2. Now place the spacer bar in the wishbone carrier, soit will sit between the two halves of the front wishbone bush. 
  • 3. Now put the remaining bush in, repeating the fitment process as above.
  • 4. Once the bushes are in, when you go to refit the wishbone, you need to fit the washers provided between the subframe housing and the roller bearing in each bush. There are 4 washers, one per bush. These can be a little fiddly to get in/line up, I used a screw driver to poke them into the rough position, then tapped a tapered bar (a screwdriver could be used instead) through the front wishbone bolt hole to line them up. If you are really struggling to get the washers into position, you can tack them to the bearing in the bush with a spot of super-glue, which will hold them in place whilst you refit the wishbone and re-insert the mounting bolt. Open up the aperture in the subframe with a lever bar if require, should there be insufficient room to fit the washers in. 
  • 5. Once lined up, but the bolt back in and tighten up to the specified torque as per Haynes Manual.
  • 6. The bearings used in the front wishbone bushes are fully sealed and don’t require greasing. Should the bearings wear out or fail, they old bearings can be pulled out/broken out, and new bearings fitted. The bearings are a common size and readily available.

The part no. is 60012RS. RearWishbone or’P’ Bushes 


1. Prior to installing the bushes, they need to be filled with grease. They come with a light coating of grease from the factory; however this is insufficient for long-term use. A grease nipple islocated on the outer facing chamfer of the bearing housing to fit a standard grease gun. If you don’t have a grease gun, slide out the bearing inner race, and generously apply grease to the bearings manually. The bearings will require periodic greasing, the frequency of which depends on how much you use the car and the operating conditions. Greasing every 2-4 months should be sufficient for most situations. Should the bearings wear out or fail, they can be replaced by removing the complete assembly from the wishbone. The bearing part no. is HK2214RS. A press will be needed to replace the bearings. If the bearing inner race is worn I have a number of spares. 

2. Make sure you orientate them correctly, as the existing bushes were. The top-hat section of the inner bearing race (the bit that fits over the wishbone spigot) should face towards the back of the car.

Undercover Tonneaus are designed from trucks that do not have a bed liner (spray-in bed liners pose no problem). Trucks that do have under-the-rail or over-the-rail bed liners will require some minor trimming of the bed liner to ensure proper placement of the mounting brackets. Due to the wide variety of bed liner manufacturers, the modifications will vary slightly between different brands. Any modifications must be made to the bed liner and NOT to the Undercover mounting hardware. Modifications to the mounting hardware will result in improper installation and will void your warranty.

TONNEAU INSTALLATION GUIDE Place the rear bracket against the truck stake pocket or tail light well Page 4, Figure 1, Pictures A & B. Use two of the holes in rear bracket which are unobstructed by the truck bed, (there will be three to choose from), one hole as far forward as possible and one hole as far back as possible (this will vary depending upon truck model) Page 4, Figure 2. Place a 5/16Óx 1 1/4″bolt with a 5/16″lock washer and a 5/16″washer through the hole in bracket Page 4, Figure 3. Place clamp on backside of bracket behind the bed lip of the truck.

Thread the bold into the clamp and tighten being careful to not let the clamp twist while tightening. Make sure bracket is held down tightly against truck bed rail before tightening. Repeat procedure for second clamp. Mounting bracket bolts must be tightened down without bending the bracket. Keep the clamps straight and do not let them turn while tightening Page 4, Figure 3, Picture C & D.

WARNING! Bolts must be tightened to the correct torque to prevent any movement of the bracket on the truck bed. Bolts must be re-checked for tightness periodically. Failure to do so could cause serious damage to both the truck and/or your Undercover. Repeat Steps A through C for opposite side of the truck bed. But it is a good idea to compare how tight you are currently tightening the bolts with the tool you are using with a torque wrench just so you can get “the feel”of how tight 15-ft./lbs. or 180-in./lbs. of torque actually is.

1. Access the engine compartment by opening the hood and securing it with the prop rod. Disconnect the battery cables by eradicating them from the terminals with a socket wrench. This can isolate the electrical power.

2. Find the starter, a cylindrical shaped motor mounted between the flywheel and the engine. The starter might be accessed from the bottom of the engine. This will make the duty easier.

3. Unbolt the stud on the top to remove the positive cable with the socket wrench. Pull it away from the starter.

4. Pull the starter off the body by hand. Faucet with a hammer if the starter is stubborn and won’t come loose.

5. Position the new starter to the frame. Start threading the top bolt to hold the starter in place.

6. Unscrew the stud on the highest of the starter to install the positive cable. Place the starter cable on the stud and tighten with a socket wrench

7. Push the remaining bolt via the unfavorable cable and tighten each to the bottom bracket. Secure both bolts with a socket wrench.

8. Safe the battery cables to the battery terminal. Tighten the cables on to the terminal for a strong connection.

9. Begin the car to ensure the starter was installed correctly. The Ford will begin with no hesitation.

Secure up and out of harm’s way. B. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back up sensors. This can either be done by unplugging the connectors at each sensor or removing the sensor from the trim piece holding them into the bumper. C. Remove the 7 plastic Christmas tree plugs holding the harness to the inside of the bumper. Fish the harness out of the bumper and out of the way. D. Remove the 6 bolts (3 per side) holding the factory bumper to the receiver hitch using a 10mm socket. E. Using two people each grasping one corner of the bumper lift and rotate towards the back of the vehicle.

Once the climate controls are disconnected, do not turn on the vehicle ignition until they have been reconnected! Doing so will cause the airbag light to come on and stay on until reset. Next, using only your fingers again, pull down gently on the plastic trim panel located under the climate controls you just removed.

This piece will snap down and then slide toward you. Set aside. Insert a small flathead screwdriver into the notch at the front edge of the ashtray carrier, and pry up gently to unsnap the front edge. Be very careful not to mar the console trim while doing this. It should take very little pressure to release the clips. Then, simply use your fingers to lift the ashtray carrier up and out of the console as shown. There is one electrical connector on the bottom side of the ashtray carrier. Disconnect it to completely remove the ashtray carrier from the car.

Looking down into the ashtray carrier from above, you will notice a rectangular opening in the center as pictured. Run the male end of the cable emanating from the spec.dock through this hole while the ashtray carrier is free from the console. Now, route the male end of the spec.dock cable under the support structure for the ashtray carrier, into the climate control opening and out the side of the center console into the passenger footwell as shown.

Carrier Assembly


  • 1. Install the 4 springs in the 4 chamfered holes. 
  • 2. Install thrust washer behind locking side gear. 
  • 3. Remove the small cap, locking ring, locking gear and the following parts shown-set screw, dowel pin, shaft, spider gear (on opened end) spider gear washer, spider gear cap and snap ring.
  • 4. Your carrier should now look like this-open on one side with the shaft and spider gear missing. This will enable you to install your axles and c-clip later through these procedures. 
  • 5 Install locking side gear with gears facing engagement with spider gears. 
  • 6. Slide the ring gear around the carrier. 
  • 7. Install locking ring gear with gears facing engagement with locking side gear.
  • 8. The flat side must be facing up! Push locking ring down and let the springs return it to ensure smooth operation (repeat several times). 
  • 9. Install small carrier cap -align holes, make sure it slides into locking side gear smoothly.

  • 1. Remove tires, brakes, rotors, and axles in accordance with your vehicle’s manufacturer’s service manual (MSM). Drain oil then remove carrier. Now is a good time to check seals and clean entire housing. 
  • 2. Install your bearings and shims in accordance with your MSM. Note: installation kit not included -bearings, shims, etc. 
  • 3. Check your pattern in accordance with your MSM. Note: gear set up should be done by a certified mechanic. 
  • 4. Rotate the carrier with opened end facing out so that you can install the c-clips. 
  • 5. Push axles in and install the c-clips, once this is done pull axles out some until they are properly in place.
  • 6. Carefully Install the shaft. The end with the cross hole should be on this end. With the cross hole running north/south and the shaft not be pushed all the way through. 


Leave some extending out this end to enable you to install the spider gear, cap, dowel pin, and set screw.

Please gather the following tools before you begin the installation: * Power Drill * 3/16″ drill bit * Fine permanent marker or felt tip pen * Tape measure or ruler * Masking tape * Hammer & center punch * Rivet gun, capable of 3/16″ rivets (most brands can handle this size)

Note: Only use the rivets supplied in the QuickLIFT system. Step 3 – Mark centerline of hood bracket location. A. Leave your hood closed. B. Using a piece of masking tape and a permanent marker, carefully measure from the hood’s corner (near hinge and windshield) and along the fender line. Wrap the end of the tape measure over the corner lip and place a mark on the hood masking tape at 14″ This mark will be used to align the centerline of the bracket’s ball-stud in the next step. Step 4 – Align bracket and mark lower hole for drilling. A. Align the center of the bracket with the mark you just made on the hood. You will need to view the hood directly from the side as shown in Figure 4A .

The bracket should sit on the flat area just inside the edge of the hood skin with the ball stud facing outward or away from vehicle. The back of the bracket should be up against the hood’s frame. B. Holding bracket in place, mark the center of the lower hole using a permanent felt tip marker. Be sure the bracket is straight and sitting flat against the hood’s frame. C. Set bracket aside.

Using a center punch and a hammer, tap the center of the mark you just made (this indention will help guide the drill bit and keep it from wandering). Verify the brackets placement using these photos and those in the following steps.

Heater Warnings to Installer 


  • Correct installation of this heater is necessary to ensure safe and proper operation. Read and understand this manual before attempting to install the heater. Failure to follow all these instructions could cause serious or fatal injury Explosion Hazard 
  • Heater must be turned off while re-fueling. 
  • Do not install heater in enclosed areas where combustible fumes may be present. Fire Hazard 
  • Install the exhaust system so it will maintain a minimum distance of 50mm(2″) from any flammable or heat sensitive material. 
  • Ensure that the fuel system is intact and there are no leaks. Asphyxiation Hazard 
  • Route the heater exhaust so that exhaust fumes cannot enter any passenger compartments. 
  • If running exhaust components through an enclosed compartment, ensure that it is vented to the outside.


Safety Hazard on Coolant Heaters Used With Improper Antifreeze Mixtures 


  • The proper operation of the Espar coolant heaters requires that the coolant in the system to be heated contain a proper mixture of water and antifreeze to prevent coolant from freezing or slushing. 
  • If the coolant becomes slushy or frozen, the heater’s coolant pump cannot move the coolant properly causing a blockage of the circulating system. Once this occurs, pressure willbuild up rapidly in the heater and the coolant hose could either burst or blow off at the connection point to the heater. 
  • This situation could cause engine damage and/or personal i n j u r y. Extreme care should betaken to ensure a proper mixture of water and antifreeze is used in the coolant system. 
  • Refer to the engine manufacturer’s or coolant manufacturer’s recommendations for your specific requirements.


Note: During electrical welding work on the vehicle disconnect the power to the heater in order to protect the control unit. Note: The heater is equipped with a high voltage cutout as well a low voltage cutout.
