There isn’t much information available about the new Pajero but Mitsubishi said that an early concept might debut in April 2015. This would show an early version of their prototype which they say it will be a revelation in the SUV industry. The actual release date for a production model could be as early as the late 2016 while the price is likely to sit around $36,000 which is a bit much but still acceptable for an all around good SUV.

On the interior, the Mitsubishi Pajero IO 2016 is likely going to get a similar design to the L200. This means that while it will not offer the luxury feel of the other crossovers in its class, it will manage to offer a better equipment level than most. As standard it will likely come with dual zone automatic climate control, satellite navigation, rear view camera and front parking sensors, a partial-leather upholstery, an 8 inch screen for the infotainment system as well as a premium audio unit.

Its exterior will be much more impressive than the inside of the car. While there are only early renders of the car, these show an impressive design similar to what the Outlander is offering. The front grille is going to be bigger while the headlights are now going to use LED and Xenon as standard. The front bumper will offer a higher approach angle than most while still keeping the aerodynamic features of its competitors through active aerodynamics.

Engine wise there are a few options for the Mitsubishi Pajero IO 2016 and most of these point to those on the Triton. The base might just be a 2.4 liter turbocharged diesel engine with direct injection that would be able to offer as much as 160 horsepower and more than 290 lb-ft of torque. While it doesn’t sound too impressive, this would be the perfect engine for a towing and off-road vehicle as well as a great alternative to a hybrid in terms of fuel consumption in the city or on the highway. A higher powered version is also likely to show on the new Pajero which is likely going to be a new V6 also fitted on the Pajero Sport.
