Unlike the previous model which was based on the A4, the new 2016 Audi A5 4 Door is going to use the new MLB Evo platform which will use a lot more aluminum than before. Thanks to this, the car is expected to weigh at least 200 pounds less than the previous model which is a nice improvement. The design will also move to Audi’s new design language while both the interior and its engines are going to be upgraded in order to make it more competitive.
The price on the other hand is the one thing that will remain unchanged with the base A5 costing no more than $41,000, almost $1000 less than its closest competitor.
Engine wise, Audi is going to work a lot on the higher end engines but the base is likely going to be the same 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 which is good for 211 horsepower. The 3 liter supercharged V6 is likely going to be replaced with a 3.6 liter twin-turbocharged V6 that will provide around 360 horsepower, a 10% increase over the previous model. The top end RS5 is also going to ditch the current 4.2 liter V8 in the favor of a 4 liter twin-turbo V8 that will raise the power to around 470 horsepower. While these turbocharged engines aren’t a lot more powerful than the old powertrains, all of them are going to use at least 10% less fuel which is the real improvement here.

On the interior, the 2016 Audi A5 4 Door will evolve in a more comfortable car than before. While the previous car wasn’t bad, it was just an A4. However, the new model will get unique features as well as a unique design that is meant to make the car that much more desirable. In fact, the car will get all new interior inserts and equipment over the previous model.
The outside of the car on the other hand will evolve to a more mature looking design. The front end will now use more angular shapes with the new hexagonal front grille that first appeared on the new Q7. The rear of the car will also get a new exhaust system as well as a new set of tail lights, all of which are going to make it look a bit more aggressive than before.
