So, the 2016 Ford Edge is going to be a better car in terms of fuel consumption and power and it will also offer more technology for its passengers, but is that it? Well, not really mostly because Ford said that they are now going to roll out yearly updates of their cars which are going to make them stay competitive. The biggest change for the new Edge is going to be the design of the front end, but more on that later.

Engine wise, the car will get the same three engines as before with slight tweaks. The base will use a 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 engine good for 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The current 3.5 liter Duratec V6 is likely going to be discontinued in this generation and replaced with a 2.3 liter EcoBoost that could offer as much as 290 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. This would be more powerful than the old V6 and also more fuel efficient which is always a nice combination. The top end model will get the same 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6 as before but this time with 325 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque. All of these engines are likely going to receive Ford’s all new 9 speed automatic gearbox and standard all wheel drive system, allowing the Edge to be a step above the competition.

On the interior, the 2016 Ford Edge will look almost identical to the 2015 model. There will be differences though in terms of equipment. The 2016 model will come with a different infotainment unit which is going to use the Android operating system, allowing the driver to fully customize its driving experience. On top of that, this new infotainment system will be delivered as standard with satellite navigation as well as with social media integration such as Waze. Its exterior on the other hand is going to remain completely unchanged over the current generation. The only difference will be on the new 2.3 liter model which is going to get a different type of exhaust with two square pipes, similar to the top end model.
