2016 Ford Expedition King Ranch Review

2016 Ford Expedition King Ranch - The Expedition is Ford’s last truck based SUV which is still capable of towing more than just a few hundred pounds. Not too long ago they gave it quite a big overhaul so the 2016 Ford Expedition is a newer car than most others in its class. Just like the previous model, it remained a body on frame type of construction with an independent suspension, giving it much better on-road performance than its major competitors. However, over the previous generation the new Expedition is now lighter thanks to the improvements Ford made to the chassis of the car as well as slightly more durable thanks to extra reinforcements made to the body.

2016 Ford Expedition King Ranch Release Date and Price

Starting with the next year, it will also receive the all new aluminum body which should shave at least 600 pounds from the 5000 pounds SUV which should make it quite a bit more fuel efficient than the current generation. While it has been released the car won’t hit the showrooms until the mid of 2015 when it will come at a base price of around $50,000 which is roughly the same price as before.

However, unlike the previous model, the new 2016 Ford Expedition is using a brand new EcoBoost engine which is not only more powerful at 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque but also a lot more fuel efficient with the all wheel drive model being able to get more than 18 MPG on average. Unfortunately, the old 6 speed automatic has been kept on this generation as well, so the smoothness could be improved. The good part is that it will still be able to tow more than 9000 pounds which is great for a car in this class. This is expected to grow in the future when the car will shed a few hundred pounds which should make it the best in its class.

On the interior, the 2016 Ford Expedition has been updated with Ford’s latest technology including an automatic parking system which will scan a parking space and park the car all by itself, satellite radio and navigation, a premium surround audio system with two sub-woofers, seven very comfortable seats with included heating and ventilation on the higher end models as well as a premium infotainment system with up to five different LCD screens. As an option on the higher end models there is going to be a new LTE connectivity system which is only going to be available as a dealer-installed option.

Exterior of 2016 Expedition

The exterior of the Expedition on the other hand won’t change all that much over the 2014 model. In fact, it will be almost identical with the 2015 generation only getting a new front grille as well as a new pair of rims for the base model.
