The cabin of the newcomer is where big changes and improvements have actually happened. The dashboard now has thin and horizontal shape. The dashboard looks pretty much like Corolla’s but we have to mention that it is just remotely related to it. Thanks to the aluminum trim, the black cabin looks much brighter and more upscale at the same time. Seat cushions also get unique stitching which further makes the cabin brighter and more welcoming place. A great number of controls are steering-mounted. The new gauge cluster is pretty easy to read. One of the most interesting things inside of the cabin is definitely the swanky infotainment screen. Below the main screen, there are HVAC controls which this time seems to be easier for usage. At the very beginning, we mentioned that the 2016 Toyota Hilux will be offered with a new engine lineup. The vehicle will be available with four different engine options. The first one is a 2.8-liter turbodiesel power unit that cranks out 174 ponies and 331 pound-feet of torque. Less powerful turbodiesel is a 2.4-liter engine which makes 160 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The gasoline engine lineup comprises of a 4.0-liter V-6 and a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. The former is good for 278 hp and the latter makes 164 ponies. The aforementioned engine will be coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox with truck-based rev matching technology the carmaker calls i-MT. There is no news of what Toyota has ups its sleeve with fuel economy, but apparently, the new engines will be more fuel efficient than the current ones.
