While it is currently just a concept car, the Eldorado is very likely to be produced considering it may very well be Cadillac’s answer to the new Continental. Unlike most other current Cadillac models, the Eldorado is going to be based on their new full-size rear wheel drive Omega platform which is very likely to be used on their next generation full size luxury cars. Unlike the smaller Alpha platform, the Omega will allow them to fit new engines on the car as well as new transmissions.
In fact, the Eldorado is supposedly going to be powered by an all new 4.8 liter twin-turbocharged V8 good for more than 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. This would allow Cadillac to achieve the desired fuel consumption while not sacrificing the performance of the car. The transmission has yet to be revealed but we expect it to get a new 10 speed automatic which has been in development by GM for quite some time. This would allow the Eldorado to reach 60 MPH in less than 5 seconds and go up to a limited top speed of 150 MPH. On the exterior, the 2016 Cadillac Eldorado is one of the best looking models they managed to make so far. It is a 2-door full size car which impresses through its massive wheels, big front grille similar to the cars of the 1940s as well as with the very clean back.
